Screen Mint (“the Extension”) is a Chrome extension developed and maintained by Zahir Alam.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Screen Mint handles user data.

1. Data Collection

Screen Mint does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

The extension does not collect:

  • Browsing history
  • Recorded screen content

Screen Mint operates entirely within the user’s browser and does not send any information to external servers.

2. Screen Recording Functionality

Screen Mint uses Chrome’s built-in screen capture functionality to allow users to record:

  • Entire screen
  • Application windows
  • Browser tabs

All recording activity happens locally within the user’s browser.

Recorded videos are:

  • Processed locally.
  • Stored directly on the user’s device within the browser’s local storage database (IndexedDB).
  • Never uploaded to any external server.

The developer cannot access or view any recordings.

3. Video Editing & Overlay Features Screen Mint includes a built-in video editor that allows users to trim or remove sections of recorded videos, as well as add multiple tracks of text and image overlays.

  • All editing operations occur locally within the browser.
  • When adding an “Image Overlay,” the image file is read locally using your browser’s internal file reader.
  • No video content, custom text, or uploaded overlay images are transmitted, stored remotely, or shared externally during the editing process.

4. Permissions Usage Screen Mint requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality.

  • desktopCapture: Used to allow users to record their screen, application windows, or browser tabs.
  • offscreen: Used to create an offscreen document required for handling recording processes under Chrome Manifest V3.
  • tabs: Used to identify the currently active browser tab when the user initiates a recording session. This permission is not used to read browsing history or collect tab information.

5. Data Sharing

Screen Mint does not:

  • Sell user data
  • Share user data
  • Transfer user data
  • Store user data externally

No user information is transmitted to third parties.

6. Third-Party Services

Screen Mint does not integrate with any third-party services, including:

  • Analytics providers
  • Advertising networks
  • Tracking services
  • External APIs

The extension functions entirely within the user’s browser.

7. Security

Because Screen Mint does not collect or store user data, there is no external data storage that could expose user information.

All functionality is executed locally within the Chrome browser environment.
